Mickey Mouse

The cartoon hero of all times Mickey Mouse (The short name of Mitchell Mouse) is an icon for the Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney and Ub Iwerks gave life to this wonderful character in the year 1928. Mickey's voice belongs to the creator Disney himself.
Mickey embraced the hearts of the people with the release of Steamboat Willie (the first Mickey Mouse Cartoon with sound) on November 18, 1928. The Walt Disney Company celebrates Mickey's birthday every year on this day although Mickey had already appeared six months earlier in Plane Crazy.
At present Mickey has evolved from being simple a character in animated cartoon and comic strips to become one of the most recognizable symbols in the word. Mickey is currently the main character in the Disney Channel's Playhouse Disney series "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and is the leader of The Mickey Mouse Club.

In late 2009, The Walt Disney company announced that they will begin to re-brand the Mickey Mouse character by moving away from his pleasant, cheerful image and reintroducing the more devious side of his personality, starting with the upcoming Epic Mickey. Mickey was created as a replacement for Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, an earlier cartoon character created by the Disney studio for Charles Mintz of Universal Studios. On November 18, 1978, in honor of his 50th anniversary, he become the first cartoon character to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Throughout the decades, Mickey Mouse competed with Warner Bros. Bugs Bunny for animated popularity. But in 1988, in a historic moment in motion picture history, the two rivals finally shared screen time in the Robert Zemeckis Disney/Amblin film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
